This is a notice for websites connected to the old Orcon Windows web hosting platforms which have now reached end of life (EOL). From the 12th November 2014, Orcon (iServe) Windows websites will no longer have internet access for security reasons. FTP access to these servers will still be accessible until 20th January 2014. All websites on this platform should have already been migrated over to the Linux Platform. All clients who have their domains and DNS hosted by us will have automatically been switched to the Linux Servers, so your website should be unaffected by this. If you happen to host your domain away from our servers, and you use a third party DNS provider, then your website may stop working after this date. As we don't manage the DNS for those domains we don't know who is affected, if anyone, nor are we able to change the settings for you. Our clients are now able to register a whole new range of recently released Top Level Domain Name Extensions. Gone are the restrictions of .co.nz, .com, .net etc at the end of your domain. You can now register new domains such as .builder, .kiwi, .bike or .me ! Most of these new domain names are ‘Premium’ Domain names. So they may cost slightly more than our standard domains like .nz or .com. If you want to register one of these new Premium Domain Names, you can do this today via our easy to use .NZ Domain Manager system at www.domains.loungenetwork.co.nz . Mailserver Upgrades Dear Clients,   Our upstream providers have scheduled a maintenance window to perform mail storage migration on Thursday morning, starting at 12am. This will address mail performance on the storage servers as usage has increased. This is part of an ongoing upgrade program. Start Time: 31/07/2014 00:00 NZST End Time: 31/07/2014 03:00 NZST   During this maintenance window POP3 and IMAP will be unavailable for a small set of customers. The .NZ Domain Registry has announced that from 1pm, 30 September 2014, a significantly amended .nz policy will come into effect – ushering in a new era of choice in .nz domain names. From that date, people will be able to register shorter, simpler, more representative names immediately before the .nz – as well as the more familiar-looking options like ‘.co.nz’ and ‘.org.nz’. All clients will be able to register new .nz domains through our Domain Manager system at www.domains.loungenetwork.co.nz from that date. All existing options like .co.nz, .org.nz and .govt.nz will continue to work as they always have and people will still be able to get names with them. The datacentre is performing a series of urgent unscheduled kernel upgrade on the nodes where the CPanel servers located. The nodes will need to be rebooted as part of the upgrade, which will cause a small amount of downtime while the reboots take place.

Our upstream providers shared mail system users on the Auckland Network may be aware of an issue that occurred on the 18th June during a migration of data to a new mail platform. This resulted in mail delays for some of our clients. We apologise for the inconvenience caused, and have assurance from our upstream providers that future mail migrations will be broken down into a significantly smaller number of mailboxes, so the migrations complete within the planned maintenance window, and do not overrun into business hours. The migration commenced early this morning at 12am, and should have completed by 3am during off peak hours. However there were a number of unforseen issues that have led to the delay, including the vast amount of individual files on the server which has reduced file transfer speeds. We will put a thorough incident report on this RSS as soon as soon as we have received it from our upstream providers.  ----- Update: 05.30 pm This issue still continues. There are reported power outages in Auckland. Please note that our hosting is not affected by this. Should there be a power outage at the datacentre, then they will run their servers off backup generators, which will keep all services up and running.
