Wellington Earthquakes #EQNZ

This is just a network announcement regarding the Wellington Earthquakes, and the large Earthquake that struck on Sunday afternoon. These Earthquakes have caused no problems for us. Although our head office is located in the Wellington region, and we certainly felt the earthquakes, it has caused no damage in our office or surrounding area. The hosting infrastructure where most of our clients websites are hosted, is in professional datacentres in Auckland, well away from both Wellington and Christchurch. So clients can be  assured that websites will not be affected by these earthquakes. As you maybe aware, the Wellington CBD is closed tommorrow, Monday, due to some damage to buildings in the Wellington CBD. However because our office isn't in the CBD, this will not affect us, so it is business as usual for us.

DDoS Attack July 15th 2013

For clients hosted in our Auckland datacentre, you may have noticed yesterday that there was a significant network degradation from 3:45pm until 4:55pm, causing most services to be unreachable. Whilst our upstream providers are still investigating the issue at this stage it appears one of the platforms at the datacentre was attacked by a significant DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. This saturated the border routers, making this network inaccessible, affecting other providers too. Service was restored just before 5pm as our providers mitigated the attack, however customers may have noticed another brief outage at 5:50 as they worked on our border routers. We sincerely apologise for any disruption caused by this DDoS attack. Whilst our providers still working through analysing this attack, please rest assured that they will be taking steps to enhance our ability to mitigate such events more quickly in the future.

Problem with Vodafone / ihugs Email servers

We have had a few clients contact us in the last few days about problems receiving emails that have been sent from Vodafones / ihugs mail servers. The person sending them the emails instead received a email bounceback to say that their email had been rejected as junkmail, because it had been listed on several realtime blacklists (RBLs). These clients have also contacted Vodafone, but vodafone staff denied the problem was with them. We can assure clients that the problem is definitely with Vodafone, as they are responsible for keeping their IPs clean and getting any RBL blacklistings removed when they do occur. We have also contacted Vodafone management ourselves, and they have told us that they are aware of the problem, and they have reassured us that they are working on getting it resolved with the relevant blacklists. Only Vodafone are able to fix this problem. If you have any concerns, please contact Vodafone directly, and ask for your email or call to b...

New Control Panel Environment

We have moved our Control Panel for our Premium Unmetered Plans  to a new environment at http://controlpanel.secureserver.co.nz This has been used extensively in Beta so we do not expect any degradation in service - in fact customers should note better performance and some minor improvements, especially where customers have lots of domain names or resources.  You will notice that http://controlpanel.co.nz  now redirects to the new environment. Any customers using direct bookmarks to cp.secureserver.co.nz should update those to ensure you're using the latest system. If you have any questions please let us know.

Major Website Updates Coming

We are making some major changes to our website over the next few weeks, along with a brand new fresh website and design.  Some changes have already been made. This will be the first major update we have had on our website in over 5 years. This may result in some issues and broken links on our websites. If you do notice any broken links, please email us. This will not affect any client websites.

CPanel server hardware upgrades.

We are pleased to announce that all our CPanel servers have had their hardware upgraded over recent months, as part of our regular updating schedule. This will allow the reliability and performance of the servers to remain at their very high levels. The continued reliability of our services is very important to us, and we are pleased to be one of the most reliable and longest established hosting providers in New Zealand, now being in our 12th year of business.

Reminder of New CPanel and Webmail Login URLs

This is just a repeat announcement to one we posted back on the 15/12/2011, regarding the new URLs for accessing Webmail & Cpanel. Most of our servers now have these new logins as mandatory, so if you are having trouble logging in or getting security error messages, please make sure you are using the new logins below. This announcement ONLY applies to clients on our Premium Grade CPanel branded web hosting plans. Due to security and server upgrades mentioned in a previous announcement, clients on our CPanel plans will soon only be able to login to CPanel & Webmail through a secure login page. Therefore the old login URL you used to use will be phased out in the coming weeks. The new logins will depend on which server your website is installed on. Please check your Account information email that we initially sent you when the account was first setup, which should display the server you are on. If you don't have access to this, you can also try logging int...
