Possible ISP DNS Caching Issue Affecting Some Customers on Gemini and Wildcats Servers

We are aware that a couple of clients reported issues connecting to online services hosted on these servers on 22/01/2026. The servers themselves were online and fully operational at the time, and services were accessible via most ISPs. However, a couple of clients reported that they were unable to connect through their own ISP. The issue appears to have been caused by these clients ISPs caching an outdated network route to the server and not automatically updating it after the datacentre changed the routing to a new upstream ISP. According to the host’s status page, the datacentre’s core ISP was temporarily null-routing port 53 traffic, which affected DNS resolution. As a result, the datacentre switched traffic to an alternative ISP. This change coincided with the time some clients began experiencing connectivity issues. Price updates for .NZ, .COM and some other TLD Domain Names

The New Zealand Domain Registrar will be increasing their .NZ domain pricing, as well as the price of some other international domain extensions from the 20th January 2026. We recommend clients renew their domains before then if they want to avoid the price increases. Most domain you can renew up to 10 years in advance. These price increases are beyond our control and are being increased on the wholesale level by the New Zealand Registrar directly to cover cost increases and improvements in infrastructure. We have no option but to pass these price increases onto the client. Please note that unlike many NZ domain name providers, we are 100% based in New Zealand and have been selling domain names since 2001, which is over 25 years. We are one of New Zealand's longest established Domain Name providers.   If you have autorenewals setup, your domain name will auto renew at the new higher prices.  You can also renew your domain for up to 10 years in advance at this lower price ...

Scam / Phishing alert: Fake domain name renewal emails

We are aware of fake domain-renewal emails being sent to domain name registrants in New Zealand by third parties pretending to manage their domains. These emails are a scam. Please ignore and delete them, and do not open any attachments. To check your genuine renewal date or manage your domain at any time, you can log in to the NZ Domain Manager at  www.domainmanager.co.nz

Global Cloudflare outage

We are aware of a global outage with Cloudflare with is affecting the internet all over the world. It is affecting the loading of websites and email etc. More information and updates can be found at  https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/

Hosting service payment changes

We have moved from a maximum billing cycle of 12 months, to a maximum 6 month billing cycle.  If you were previously billed for 12 months in advance, your next invoice will be for 6 months.  We are making this change due to a number of factors. This includes regular pricing hikes by our upstream providers and the weak New Zealand dollar. So we need to be able to adjust our pricing more regularly to take account of these things. 

New Domain Manager

Our upstream providers have released a new updated version of the NZ Domain Manager. This loads from our new NZ Domain Manager website at  www.domainmanager.co.nz . It is essentially a new more modern interface on top of the existing domain management system.  Please note that any previous emails you have received that contain renewal links will no longer contain valid links, so they won't work. So you will need to go to the new website at  www.domainmanager.co.nz  and log into your 'Account Manager' to renew or register any domains.  

Server Reboots September 2024 (Uptime)

Date: September 4, 2024 - October 5, 2024  Time: Rolling  Scope of Work: Our upstream providers are going to be rebooting various systems throughout the month due to them being up for over 180 days. They do this to ensure they don't FSCK (file system check) if there is a sudden reboot. Downtime is usually 5-10 minutes while the systems reboot but maybe longer if any issues are encountered. If you notice some downtime then this will likely be the reason. 

Our @loungenetwork.net email accounts will no longer be accepting email and have been retired

We will not be receiving email via our old @loungenetwork.net email accounts from now on. Instead we are now solely using our @loungenetwork.co.nz email addresses for all correspondence.  We haven't used email addresses using @loungenetwork.net for several years as we have been phasing it out.   All emails that clients send us need to be sent to our @loungenetwork.co.nz email addresses from now on.  Therefore please do not send us any emails to email addresses that end in  @loungenetwork.net as we wont receive them.
